Powerful Muses: The Group of Seven Artists

With  Robert Carsten

Saturday,  February 25

2 PM

Seven Canadian artists, along with Tom Thomson, weathered a storm of rejection by art critics and forged a new vision of art.  Rather than painting the gentle, surrounding countryside, they responded to the powerful muses of wilderness and rugged beauty, painting the Northlands of Ontario in all seasons.  Nearly a hundred years after their first group exhibition, today their heroic accomplishments are an integral part of Canada's identity in the visual arts and environmentalism.
Join award-winning local artist Robert Carsten for this fascinating presentation on our neighbors to the north.  Robert’s gentle teaching style and genuine love for art are simply contagious!
Robert Carsten is a master pastelist in the Pastel Society of America.  He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Italy.  Robert is a much sought-after art workshop instructor, national art exhibition and awards juror, demonstrator, and panelist.
