Calling all green thumbs, and not so green thumbs

On Saturday, January 26th from 1 - 3 pm, Ron Krupp will be here at the library to give us advice on germination mixes, potting soils, seed starting dates, grow lights vs. sunlight, containers, the use of cold-frames, greenhouses and more. Please bring your garden questions! Ron is the author of The Woodchuck's Guide to Gardening, founder of the Brattleboro Farmer's Market in 1972, and Vermont Public Radio's garden commentator for the past 10 years. This is a hands-on workshop, so let's get ready to plant some seeds!

Tax Forms

Once again this year, The Springfield Town Library has a supply of income tax forms. We currently have 1040, 1040-A, and 1040-EZ forms and instruction booklets, as well as a number of other forms. We will put out additional forms as they come in. Note: We are still waiting for Vermont forms, but hope to have them soon. Update: The Vermont forms are now in as well.

Most forms may also be printed from the IRS or Vermont Dept. of Taxes websites. In addition, they may be requested by phone at 1-800-TAX-FORM (1-800-829-3676, federal forms), or 1-866-828-2865 (Vermont forms).

While the library is happy to supply tax forms, our staff is not trained to provide tax advice or assistance. The Springfield Senior Center is offering tax assistance on Fridays (9:00 am to 3:30 pm) starting in February. Assistance is by appointment only, please call the Senior Center at (802) 885-3933 to sign up.

For Tax questions, you may also call the IRS at 1-800-TAX-1040 (1-800-829-1040), Mon-Fri 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, or the Vermont Dept. of Taxes at 1-866-828-2865 (in Vermont), or 1-802-828-2865 (outside Vermont).
